Chelsea injury update ahead FA Cup game against Preston

Chelsea is facing challenges with numerous injuries, a common struggle for many Premier League teams. The list of injured players is not getting shorter, and this situation persists leading up to their FA Cup match against Preston this weekend.

During a press conference on Friday, Chelsea's manager, Pochettino, provided updates on player injuries. Chilwell and Carney won't be available for the upcoming match, but there's hope for their return in the following games against Middlesbrough and Fulham. Pochettino expressed satisfaction with their progress during training.

Lavia is in recovery following a quad injury sustained in the game against Crystal Palace. Pochettino couldn't specify when he would be available again. Regarding further injuries, Pochettino mentioned that Benoit Badiashile might be available next week, with no other new developments.

However, Christopher Nkunku will not start in the upcoming game due to issues he faced during the week. Pochettino emphasized the need to be cautious with his condition, though he will be included in the squad.

Chelsea continues to be without players like Wesley Fofana, Reece James, Marc Cucurella, Robert Sanchez, Lesley Ugochukwu, and Trevoh Chalobah. Additionally, Nicolas Jackson is participating in the Africa Cup of Nations.

With Jackson away and Nkunku not fully fit, Pochettino highlighted the opportunity for Armando Broja to showcase his abilities in their absence. He acknowledged Broja's potential and qualities, encouraging him to move past his injury from the previous year.
