Too casual - pundit claims Chelsea star needs urgent coaching

Chelsea’s Noni Madueke received some pretty harsh criticism after his display in yesterday’s win against Crystal Palace.

Noni Madueke, 21, retained his starting position in Monday night’s trip to Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Unfortunately, the right-winger was substituted off at half-time with his side 1-0 down.

The Blues did wake up in the second-half and snatched three league points with a 3-1 away victory.

TalkSPORT pundit Murphy did rip into Madueke after his first-half display versus Palace. We’ll cavaet that by saying none of Chelsea’s players were at the races during a very poor opening 45 minutes.

Madueke couldn’t get anything going as an attacking threat down the right. Also, he lost possession in the build up to Palace’s opening goal through Jefferson Lerma.

“Madueke’s been poor, he’s been too casual,” Murphy told talkSPORT.

“He’s a wonderful talent who needs guidance and coaching quickly.”

Noni Madueke against Crystal Palace

Madueke definitely looked like a raw 21-year-old talent in his display versus Palace.

The £29 million winger (Sky Sports) is proving this season he can blow hot and cold, but we wouldn’t reach too much into Monday night. In fact, he’s shown in the last couple of months he can really contribute to this team in key moments.

Speaking on Sky Sports last night, Gary Neville labelled Madueke as “really poor” after his mistake led to Palace’s goal. He’ll be a relieved man that his teammates dug him out of a hole in the second-half, though.

We feel like Chelsea’s forward positions are still very much up for grabs, especially with the League Cup final against Liverpool now less than two weeks away.

Madueke’s competing with teammates such as Cole Palmer, Raheem Sterling, Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku and Mykhailo Mudryk for the starting attacking spots.
