Chelsea reach verbal agreement to sign PSG high-rated player

Chelsea are reportedly considering an approach to sign Paris Saint-Germain right-back Achraf Hakimi this summer.

The Blues currently have Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James as the right wing-back options, and the latter is the undisputed starter.

James was excellent last term with six goals and 10 assists, but reports claim that the Blues are weighing up a summer move for Hakimi.

According to The Athletic, Hakimi is being eyed as a replacement for Azpilicueta, but it appears unlikely that he will accept a back-up role.

Blues manager Thomas Tuchel has played James on the right side of the back three on multiple occasions, and it could be a solution next season.

In this case, both James and Hakimi would make the starting XI. Chelsea are set for a busy summer ahead with several new signings planned.

But there are also concerns over the future of James, with Manchester City and Real Madrid both reportedly holding an interest in the England international.

The backline could see a big rebuild with central defensive duo Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leaving on free transfers.

Marcos Alonso is also pushing for a move to Barcelona. The same is the case with Cesar Azpilicueta, who has agreed terms with the La Liga side.
