Chelsea are closing in on the signature of Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.

The Blues are reportedly set to complete a deal for the 23-year-old, €60 million rated Frenchman, as soon as Todd Boehly‘s takeover is complete and the sanctions dropped as per Goal.

Chelsea remain keen to add a top center-back to their ranks with both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen to depart for Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively, this summer.

The 23-year-old is understood to have verbally agreed a move to the Premier league, but talks of a move between Chelsea and Sevilla broke down last year due to failure to agree on a fee as well as the late timing of the talks.

Sevilla face a race against time as they need to raise around $47m to balance their books before June 30.

However, the La liga outfit are understood to be demanding a fee in the region of £59m ($73m) for their versatile French defender.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel reportedly had a friendly meal with the club’s prospective new owner – Todd Boehly, last week.

However, it’s understood that the pair didn’t speak about transfers.

Regardless, Blues fans can be rest-assured that Boehly is certainly ambitious and has big plans for the West London outfit to continue their title success.
