Chelsea to announce Andrey Santos today according to the reports

Andrey Santos’ move from Vasco da Gama to Chelsea is now official. The transfer was today announced by the Brazilian club, who with a statement on their website, confirmed that he’s joining the Blues.

Vasco claim to have agreed the sale ‘this Friday’, naming Chelsea as the buyers, despite not giving any more details about the deal.

In the past couple of weeks, there’ve been reports in the Brazilian and the English press claiming that in case the player didn’t get a work permit for the Premier League, then he could be loaned back to the Rio de Janeiro side for a few months.

The main reason for it would be that he didn’t play in the first division yet, as the club only got promoted at the end of last year.

However, with Vasco now saying farewell and wishing him good luck, it sounds quite unlikely that he’ll be returning there.

Earlier this week, club director Paulo Bracks had already claimed that Andrey Santos was going through medicals in London, so now it seems all this bureaucratic process is complete.

Chelsea are reportedly paying around €12m for the transfer, and that’s a reason of anger for Vasco fans, who believe the talented youngster should be worth a lot more.
