Timo Werner sends Christopher Nkunku warning ahead of Chelsea transfer deal

Former Chelsea striker Timo Werner has offered teammate Christopher Nkunku some words of wisdom ahead of a prospective move to Stamford Bridge in the summer

Timo Werner has offered Christopher Nkunku some advice ahead of his prospective move to Chelsea. The 25-year-old was heavily linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge in the summer but a move failed to materialise.

In June, Nkunku penned a two-year extension at the Red Bull Arena, casting doubt as to whether a move would be on the cards. But, The Sport Info understands that the RB Leipzig star has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Blues ahead of a proposed arrival at the end of the season.

It’s believed that the west Londoners are long admirers of the France international and have been keen to sign him for a while. Chelsea have sent scouts to watch Nkunkuu over the past couple of seasons and have been mightily impressed with his performances, football.london also understands.

Nkunku has featured 23 times for the German outfit this season, directly contributing towards 21 goals. His impressive displays have excited Blues supporters but, speaking from experience, former Chelsea striker Werner has offered his teammate some words of wisdom.

The RB Leipzig striker struggled to acclimatize to life on English soil during his spell at Stamford Bridge, despite netting 28 times in 34 Bundesliga appearances the season prior. Speaking to German outlet SportBILD, Werner said: “Everyone has to have their own experience.

“I had a very good first year, the second was so-so. I can tell him from positive and negative experiences, should he change.

“At a club like that, you don’t play like you did at RB Leipzig, because there’s even more competition – not only on a sporting level, but also on another level, in the mental area. You have to cope with that, and everyone has to find their own way.

“That’s why it’s the wrong approach to give others tips. Time has changed me a lot.”

While Nkunku’s move to Chelsea is yet to be officially confirmed by either of the two clubs, the German outfit’s sporting director Max Eberl told BILD: “The signs are very, very clear that he’s moving to Chelsea.”
