N'Golo Kante finally agreed to sign long-term contact with Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is about to sign a new long-term contract, reports Standard Sport.

The Frenchman has been a crucial member of the west London giants, but during the past 18 months, he has struggled with frequent injuries.

The Blues are nevertheless willing to reward Kante with a renewal even if he is currently struggling to regain his fitness following hamstring surgery.

The London giants are willing to extend his contract for an additional three years when it expires at the end of the current season.

In spite of this, Chelsea will probably look to sign another star defensive midfielder this summer when the transfer window reopens.

Among the top candidates under consideration are Declan Rice of West Ham United and Moises Caicedo of Brighton & Hove Albion.

Long-term targets include Rice, a former player of their academy, but there are rumors that he could want to sign with rivals Arsenal.

The England player wants to play Champions League football, which Chelsea might not be able to provide in the upcoming campaign.
