Chelsea’s hunt for a new manager continues, with Mauricio Pochettino expected to join Julian Nagelsmann in the next round of negotiations. The Blues’ interest in Luis Enrique appears to have waned, and the former Spanish coach is no longer a top priority.
Chelsea are also interested in Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Oliver Glasner, former River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo, and Napoli manager Luciano Spalleti.
According to some reports, Spalleti is still one of the candidates to take over as manager at the end of the season. The 64-year-old is having a fantastic season with Napoli, who are presently atop the Serie A table.
After being fired in Germany a few weeks ago, Julian Naglesman has been courted as the top candidate for Chelsea job. At RB Leipzig, the ex-Bayern coach worked with Chelsea technical director Christopher Vivell and co-sporting director Laurence Stewart, and he is understood to be a favourite of at least one important board member after excelling in his first interview.
Because of his inventiveness and tactical versatility, German coach may fit in at Chelsea. His favourite configuration is a back-three, a hybrid of 3-5-2 and 5-3-2 which has is known to have been successful style for the blues. He won the Bundesliga title in his first season, demonstrating why he is the best coach.
Despite all of the conjecture in Nagelsmann, Chelsea insists that the process is still ongoing, that no appointment is imminent, and that no candidate is preferred at this time.
