Chelsea interested to sign 20-year-old Nigeria striker not Victor Osimhen

Chelsea are interested in signing Gent striker Gift Orban but face competition from Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham, according to Evening Standard.

The 20 year old Nigerian striker has scored 19 times in 19 games so far this season in the Belgian Pro League and Europa Conference League, at a rate of a goal every 75 minutes.

Fourteen of those goals have been scored in just 13 league appearances, helping Gent secure fifth place in the regular Belgian Pro League season.

Orban has also contributed with five goals in six Europa Conference League appearances this term, and he netted the fastest-ever hat-trick in UEFA club competition history when he scored three goals in just 205 seconds in Gent’s 4-1 last-16 second-leg win over Istanbul Basaksehir.

Prior to joining Gent in January, the Nigerian also had plenty of joy in front goal with Norwegian side Stabaek where he found the net 19 times in 24 games last year.

Orban is under contract until 2027 and Gent would only be tempted to sell for a huge fee. It is also understood that Orban is happy to stay and develop in Belgium for longer before seeking a move.
