Chelsea ready to pay £52million fee to sign 22-year-old midfielder this summer

Ahead of the forthcoming summer transfer window, Chelsea football club will most definitely remain keen on improving their squad by signing some new players.

Its no longer news that the West London club have endured a very disastrous 2022/2023 season so far and are currently occupying the 12th position on the Premier League table.

Coupled with that, Chelsea football club are also on course to end the ongoing season without any trophy ahead of their last league match against Newcastle United on Sunday.

And as a result of their disappointing form, Chelsea football club are looking into the transfer market and have been linked with a move for young Sporting CP midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

The 22-year-old Uruguay International, who signed up for Sporting CP after departing Famalicao back in 2021 has been an important member of the first-team squad so far.

The young defensive midfielder has been hugely influential for Sporting CP so far this 2022/2023 football season, recording one assist in 41 appearances in all competitions.

His excellent performances in midfield is believed to have caught the attention of Chelsea and according to reports from Daily Mail, the Blues are keen on signing him.

The reports further claimed that Chelsea football club are really interested in Manuel Ugarte and are willing to pay £52million to lure him away from Sporting CP in the summer.

It is believed that the Chelsea board want to add more stability to their midfield and have now identified Manuel Ugarte as a needed addition to their current first-team squad.

But with Paris Saint-Germain also interested in Manuel Ugarte, it remains to be seen where the young defensive midfielder will choose to continue his developments if he gets to leave Sporting CP this summer.
